We are a Taieri based, family run business serving the needs of bees and their wranglers across the South. With a history of beekeeping in a range of forms and a passion for encouraging high standards of beekeeping in others, we are here to assist you in your development as a beekeeper, maintaining strong healthy bee colonies in top quality hiveware.
In our bee centred approach to beekeeping we recognise that every hive is different and has its own needs. We know that not all children are the same, not all dogs are the same, so why expect all hives to be! So if you are keen on bees, that sweet sticky stuff or like to know more about us, read on …
“I signed on as one of Murray and Heidi’s first clients when they established their RentaHive business way back when. That experience launched my interest in beekeeping. I have subsequently purchased colonies, queens and have had my honey extracted and processed by the Rixon Team. A really great team to work with! They are always willing to share their extensive knowledge and skills with a smile and continually motivate me to keep improving my beekeeping skills and practices.”
John Sullivan, Taieri Beach
“I got to know Murray and Heidi when I thought I might like to get involved in beekeeping. They live on a lifestyle block on the Taieri Plain, in a sustainable way which is admirable. I initially hired a hive from them and then bought one to run myself, which ended up being two. Both Murray and Heidi are a great help with freely given advice and support whenever I have questions to ask. They are a very competent team and are extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of beekeeping. I have run into problems at times and they have always had a solution for me that works.”

"Congratulations to Murray & Heidi on acquiring Bee Supplies Otago which I cranked up several years ago. They are two very industrious people who work tirelessly together and are very knowledgeable about beekeeping. I have visited their premises on several occasions & viewed their stock on hand & very comprehensive it is, so, carry on the good work folk & I wish them well."
